Colombia-based illustrator Alejandro García Restrepo is known for crafting strikingly realistic and strange drawings, often playing with the contours of natural objects to create surprising flourishes. Though many of his works have been illustrative in nature, they often stand alone as stirring works.
“In some cases, it is the fortuitous encounter of alien or distant natures, in other occasions an element in common is the trigger to create a series of characters and situations of disturbing and mysterious character,” the artist has written, as translated from Spanish. “My mind is full of these visions which little by little come out through my drawings. The pretext, the commission of an illustration, the reading of a book or simply the desire to draw.”
